Great summer punches
Q. What's your favourite Friday night meal? A. Friday nights I'm usually at the restaurant, but in a perfect world I would be home, stoking a fire, surrounded by my three daughters with the smell of beef bourguignon filling the house.
Q. What's your favourite health food? A. I do love great juices and enjoy different combinations. I eat sushi a lot for lunch, maybe three times a week.
Q. What's your secret indulgence food? A. Cheese, anytime, anywhere. I guess I blame my French roots. Also I love Milky Bars. My wife buys them for the children, but we end up eating them all ourselves.
Q. If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be? A. I'd love to say Wagyu beef but I'm beginning to feel my cholesterol levels rise. Let's say seafood, and then it's a little broad.
Q. What's your favourite aisle at the supermarket? A. I'm probably in the minority here but I love grocery shopping. It relaxes me so I'd say every aisle is my favourite.
Q. What's your favourite restaurant? A. I'm a creature of habit, so when I head out I tend to go to the same places; Bistro Moncur for a relaxed night, the Pier for a bit of a night out.
Q. Have you ever put on a dud dinner party? A. I'm sure I have. But it's more to do with the guests not interacting as well as you'd like as opposed to the food and wine being the "dud". Sometimes when everything is planned to precision the magic just "ain't there" and other times when you host a spontaneous drink on Sunday night with friends you've seen at the beach earlier, it goes off!
Q. What is the most memorable meal you have eaten overseas? A. We ate at Thomas Keller's restaurant, The French Laundry in the Napa Valley. Thomas arranged 12 differing courses for my wife and I to eat. The whole experience was sublime.
Q. What's one ingredient you always have in your pantry? A. Good olive oil and salt.
Q. If you could invite three famous people to a dinner party, who would they be? A. Bill Gates, Jack Nicholson and Borat.
