Q. Friends unexpectedly drop by and you ask them to stay for dinner. What do you cook on unplanned entertaining occasions like this?
A. I never stress. When you're married to a former rugby international from a close-knit family of seven kids, the fridge is always ready for this kind of emergency. At times like these, the barbie always gets fired up. Then everyone, including the kids, can join in.

Q. What dishes are in your recipe repertoire?
A. The repertoire isn't huge, but there are plenty of warming soups, pasta variations and a hundred different salads. And I cook a mean lamb roast.

Q. What's your favourite Friday night meal, and where will you eat it — home or out?
A. That's usually when I want to wind down ... so it's usually tracky-daks, takeaway sushi and either a DVD or back to back episodes of Will & Grace.

Q. For a romantic night in or out, what's on the menu?
A. For a romantic night, Pete and I won't be in ... we have three kids so we need to escape by ourselves and head for a local restaurant — usually the Bather's Pavillion down at Balmoral Beach where we had our wedding reception. What's on the menu? Whatever's on the menu.

Q. What's your secret indulgence food?
A. Chocolate, chocolate, and oh, did I mention chocolate? Cadburys is the best.

Q. What food couldn't you live without?
A. Chocolate.

Q. What's your favourite health food?
A. Mangoes, cherries, watermelon and bircher muesli with grated fresh apple blended through it.

Q. What's your favourite aisle at the supermarket?
A. The one leading out with the shortest queue to pay.

Q. If you could have five foods on a desert island, what would they be?
A. Cadbury chocolate, mangoes, cherries, watermelon, bircher muesli.

Q. If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?
A. I would start with brushcetta, followed by a tender lamb fillet coated in a Dijon mustard, parmesan and basil crust; rocket, pear and shaved parmesan salad; sourdough bread with a dipping bowl of extra virgin olive oil and balsamic vinegar; and finish with a selection of fresh sorbets of the season.

Q. Favourite restaurant?
A. Bather's Pavillion for sentimental reasons, but Icebergs Dining Room and Bar at Bondi is a close second.
