Victoria Beckham celebrated her 38th birthday by reminding everyone that being thin comes at a high price.

Instead of a birthday cake, Posh was presented with a fruit salad on a plate decorated with chocolate sauce writing — which presumably she avoided eating.

Posh proudly tweeted "Birthday lunch!!! Such a lovely day!!!! X VB" along with a picture of the personalised fruit plate on her account.

The family threw the mother-of-four a small birthday party by decorating their LA home with flowers, balloons and a banner that read "Happy Birthday Mummy" and later took her to Nobu Matsuhisa, an upmarket Japanese restaurant in Beverly Hills.

It proves you sometimes you can't have your cake, or eat it.

Your say: Would you be happy if you were presented with a fruit salad "cake"?
